Hi. My name is Valerie. Our daughter turned 3 years old earlier this year. Three days after her birthday we found out that she may have a cancerous tumor. After a biopsy, tests and scans, she was diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma. She has a tumor in her calcaneus (heel) bone, the cancer has also metastasized to her lungs. She has to have 16 rounds of chemo, she has had 11 so far. She  just had her left foot amputated. And at the end of chemo she will need her lungs irradiated. We have a long road ahead of us.

I started this blog to keep our family and friends updated. It also helps me, it is like my journal. Click on the text OUR DEAR JOCELYN at top of page to see my postings. If you choose to subscribe to my blog, you will get an email each time I post.

Thank you for visiting and being a part of our lives!

Valerie: Your daughter is precious..I just stumbled onto this site from a friend’s FB page and wanted to let you know Jocelyn will be in my prayers. I am a firm believer in the power of prayer …God’s still in the miracle business. Funny how the following scripture verse was my devotional for the day. Thought it was meant to share it with you.

    Psalm 147:3
He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds

Hello, stumbled on your blog. My mother and sister both had cancer and I started this tribute http://doctortisms.wordpress.com/2011/09/06/red-fuzzy-socks/
I give socks to my patients that have cancer. I will send you some if you cant find them.

Hi DrT. That was a wonderful story. Thank you for contacting me and sharing. It’s definitely hard. I have not seen any red socks in her size but with winter here, I may be able to find some now. I will keep you posted. Thank you once more.

My daughter’s guidance counselor came across your site and shared it with me as my daughter had just finished her 14 rounds of chemo and radiation battling Ewings Sarcoma at Yale. Her scans have come back clean and clear. She is now a senior in High School. Your daughter is so beautiful and I wanted to let you know that you are all in our prayers and thoughts.

I got chills and so very happy to hear! Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers. Good luck to your family and especially your daughter! Thank you Deb.

  10. Georgia December 31, 2011 at 9:54 am #

    Hi Valerie

This is Georgia, Elsa’s mom. Just wanted to say “hello” and, while I am sure that both of us would rather not need to know each other, I’m glad that we met during our last inpatient stay. It’s nice to have familiar faces around clinic and on MS8. Jocelyn is so sweet and Elsa really loves visiting her in her room and being the recipient of Jocelyn’s generosity with her many stickers 🙂

    All the best,

Watching someone you love go through treatments and procedures is so hard..my prayers go out to you, your husband, ans especially your brave little. daughter

Jocelyn is an amazing little girl!
My daughter (6 now) was diagnosed at 4 with Wilm’s tumor. I know how painful it is to have to watch your child fight through cancer. Stay strong.

Thank you Lisa! My thoughts are with you as well.
